Rena Address Printers - Entry-level Production

Inkjet addressing machines are easy to setup and run mailings after just a few short hours of installation by a qualified representative of the printer manufacturer.

Entry-level inkjet address printers can produce the same professional appearance of the larger address printers for most mailings as long as the media is within the specifications of the printer.  Most addressed mail is either a postcard or envelope, so an entry-level inkjet will do just fine as long as your volume doesn't exceed the duty cycle rating of the printer.

What do you need to get started?

  1. Mailing Software

  2. Address Printer - High Production Inkjet - Medium Production Inkjet - Entry-level Production Inkjet

  3. Shingle Conveyor

The most difficult part of addressing mail for the first time is learning how to present it to the post office right the first time.  You'll learn a lot by doing two things: Contact your local post office and sign-up for a free online demo with the mailing software provider.

What to look for?

  1. The inkjet address printer matches your needs.  Don't make the mistake of assuming all printers are alike.  If your mailings consist of postcards and envelopes only, an entry-level unit may be a consideration and work fine.  Do you expect to run some catalogs, magazines and/or booklets?  A medium to high production inkjet is better.

  2. New or Used? There are plenty of old inkjets out there and some would qualify as someone else's junk.  Most inkjets have a lifetime counter.  Anything over 1 million clicks should be checked out carefully before buying.  The average life span of a tabletop inkjet is five years with normal to heavy use.  If you can determine the age, this is another useful method of selecting a used inkjet.

  3. Shuttle-Head versus Fixed-Head Inkjets.  The shuttle-head printer covers a wider area for printing purposes, but is considerably slower and prone to more service needs because of the increased number of moving parts.  If at all possible, stick with fixed-head inkjets for speed purposes alone.  The fixed-head inkjet is simply faster and easier to setup and run.

  4. Support and Service are also very important.  Chose a printer knowing who to call and what to expect when you need support and service after the sale.  Ask for references if you're not sure.
